| Pattern Description:
With the over sized Lapel, back yoke, and hand warming pockets, this fully lined blazer styled jacket has subtle details that makes this jacket stand out. Since it is fully lined it can be made suitable for cooler weather or made from light weight materials for everyday wear. A simple switch in the direction the jacket buttons and the style can be made for a boy or girl.
Pattern Sizing:
12-18m, 2T, 3T, 4T, 5/6
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, except for the added welts to the pockets.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, the instructions are detailed and have many photos of the process.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes - Love the collar on this jacket and all the little button details. The pattern fit together well and I found it easy to sew.
Dislikes - Not sure why the coat pockets don't come with a welt flap, since you are basically sewing a welt pocket anyway. But this is easy to fix.
I also would have like button placement marked on the pattern but that is not a major problem.
Fabric Used:
Light weight wool coating from JoAnn's of all places.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a few minor changes
1. Drafted self facings for the bottom of the jacket.
2. Redrafted the back lining piece so that it had a pleat.
3. Used self fabric for both sides of the sleeve straps. Also put a bit of topstitching on them to keep the straps from slipping off the sleeve.
4. I put in the pocket facings mirror image of what the directions stated. I thought this made a nicer self facing on the inside.
5. Added the welt flap to the outside of the pocket.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew this again for my son since this one is for his cousin. It's very cute and I enjoyed making it.
Conclusion:
Great pattern, I'd buy more from this designer in a heart beat.
