Pattern Description: Misses' Separates-Misses' top, skirt, pants and jacket
Pattern Sizing: 4-16
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not after the changes I made (shortening & changing sleeves-also made out of a heavy knit which was not a "suggested" fabric)
Were the instructions easy to follow? Easy except for the jacket collar application, which was confusing.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I dislike the instructions for the collar application.
Fabric Used:100% Poly that I got on sale at Hancock Fabrics for a total of $3.71. This was intended just for a muslin, although it turned out well enought to actually wear.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I shortened the original pattern by 2 inches (should have shortened it by just 1 inch). I made the sleeves 3/4 length and added elastic ruching, like I saw in a RTW jacket.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I might sew it again, if I could figure another way to attach the collar. I would not recommend this jacket pattern for a beginner (due to the confusing collar instructions).
Conclusion: This pattern does not suggest using a knit fabric, but I was trying to copy a RTW jacket I saw at Macy's. It is more tailored than the picture on the pattern envelope shows.

Lori9999 said... Thanks for the positive comments everyone. It's nice when a pattern works the first time! Quathy, I didn't do anything special with the collar seams - just graded (layered) and off-set them (ie: one seam allowance pressed toward collar and the other pressed toward the jacket. The knit I used is a medium/heavy weight, and there is a bit of bulk, but not bad, or uncomfortable. I did cut a size smaller, as the knit did not need the "ease" like a woven fabric would. Now if I could just figure out a better way to attach the collar ... 12/23/12 11:38 PM
