Pattern Description
Unlined loose fitting jacket or vest with pockets and draped front. The draped front means the wrong side of fabric will show.

Pattern Sizing:
Size XS through XL
I made a size small and it fit perfectly. I am 5'6" tall, weigh about 140 lbs. with a bust measurement of 36"

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did Mine and the pattern

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes
However, pay attention to the collar on the red jacket pictured on the pattern They show the collar up. So the pattern has you sew the center back seam of the collar with right sides together Sewing it that way means the seam allowance is facing the back of your neck when the collar is up. I originally sewed it that way but then changed it as I knew I'd be wearing the collar down and wanted the seam allowance under the collar The pattern calls for only 1/4" seam allowances. So if you added a bit of fabric to that back center neck seam area you could do a flat felled seam and then wear your collar up or down with no seam showing.

The pattern also tells you to sew shoulder seams and neck edge in one swoop Because of all the bulk of extra fabric and wanting to serge the edges I sewed the two shoulder seams first and then did the neck edge It turned out perfectly and I didn't have to pivot while serging.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Liked that it's quick and easy to make. Pattern calls for using fleece or boiled wool and finishing the edges is optional. I did nothing to the edges and they look great. However, I did cut out the fabric with a rotary cutter to make sure all my edges were perfectly straight and smooth as I knew I wouldn't be finishing them.

Fabric Used:
Used red Winterfleece velour from Fabric.com

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did not add the pockets which are sewn into the side seams. If you do add the pockets I would suggest using a coordinating thinner fabric like a poly. I think using the fleece would have added to much bulk to the side hip area.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I would recommend it as it was so quick to make.

Conclusion:
I love wearing red especially at Christmas. I think it was the photo of the jacket in red on the front of the pattern envelope that drew me to buy it. Had it been a line drawing I probably wouldn't have given it a second look. So I am glad Kwiksew had the cover photo they did as I love the finished jacket and loved wearing it on Christmas. The drapes always come back to their same folds while wearing the jacket I like that you can move around in it and bend over but do not have to readjust it.

View of the back

From start (tracing the pattern) to finish sewing, this took only a couple hours. So if ever you need a quick trendy jacket, this is the one to make.

Looks just great on you. Very helpful in pointing out the cb collar considerations and the shoulder/neck stitching. Bonus that it stays put and no fussing with the draping. Winner!
