If it's eating the fabric at the start of the seam, wrap it with water soluble Solvvy stabilizer or start sewing on a piece of paper making sure it goes under about an inch of start of your seam to keep fabric from getting pulled down into feeddogs. When done gently remove. OR hem with lightweight Steam-a-seam.

Welcome to PR!! So glad you had a good first experience with knits. Sorry you can't wear your top yet, good luck getting the jam unstuck.
