Update 25 March 2013
I have made a second version of this dress in a brown viscose jersey. I really love the feel of the fabric made up this way though it is fairly figure revealing. I lengthened the dress and left out the pockets but it is otherwise exactly the same as the first version.
More pictures on my blog.
Pattern Description:
Knit dress with mock-wrap front, cut on sleeve, fitted midriff and flared skirt.
Here is the back view
Pattern Sizing:
30"-50" high bust, includes plus sizes.
These sizes are really different to anything I've used before, but I did get a great fit first go. They have four cup size options. I made the 35D bodice based on my high bust 38.5". My full bust is 2" bigger than suggested for the 35D cup (and my bra size is obviously bigger than D) but I made it with no alterations and it fits very well.
The midriff is sized by wait measurement in inches and I used the 35" as per my measurements. It removed some fabric from the back midriff as the pieces did not line up but the fit is good.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were good, but annoyingly kept referring to extra bits on on the cake website (like understitching or bust adjustments) which I could not be bothered looking up mid sewing session. A lightning bolt stitch is recommended for construction, which is apparently something modern machines have. Since I have a late 70s mechanical machine and some experience with knits I did my own thing a bit.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It's a great style, very figure flattering, easy to wear. It has stripe guides and I love the chevron effects. The fit is great on me too. The pockets are super useful.
The back bodice and back midriff pieces did not line up for me. It could have been a tracing error but I suspect it might be a pattern fault. Only a minor issue anyway.
Fabric Used:
Grey and black striped cotton-elastane jersey from Spotlight. I was very pleased with the quality. It is a nice weight and has good recovery.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I shortened the neck bands as they seemed too long to me. I stretched them on, but as it turned out by too much, they pull up. It think I could have left them or shortened them by a smaller amount. I also lengthened the skirt as I am 5'10".
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes! Great pattern and it would look quite different in a print or plain compared to the stripe.
Conclusion:
Great pattern! the dress has already had a lot of wear, including on Christmas day. A winner!

Lovely! I just received the pattern and although I haven't sewn anything for months, I'm looking forward to this one.

Looks wonderful! I'm really looking forward to wearing ny tiramisu. Have to make it first though, and the sewing machine is currently losing out to gardening.

It looks beautiful on you! It sounds like you and I have very similar proportions. I've just cut out the pattern, and I chose to go with a size 35 on the back and 40B on the front. Seems weird to cut out a B, and after seeing yours though I sort of wish I'd gone with the 35D after all. Oh well, we'll see how it goes. You did a lovely job, and it's so cool to see a pattern that works out of the envelope for so many different body types. So not the norm!
