Pattern Description: Fabulous yoga pant with boot leg, elastic waist and back pocket.
Leg opening approx. 47cm or 18"
Inside leg length 80cm or 31.5"
Total crotch 50cm or 20"
Pattern Sizing: 6-30. I made a 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, though they ended up being tighter than I expected.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They're very terse. I think they would be kind of difficult for a beginner. I only glanced at them and otherwise constructed them on my own.
To help myself attach the back pocket I folded back the seam allowances and used wash-away Wonder Tape to hold everything in place, then stitched it on my regular sewing machine using a 3.0 width and 2.5 length zig-zag stitch and a walking foot.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like how easy they were to put together and how they are true to size. I was able to complete this project in less than 2 hours. I also like the waistband. It is very smooth and folded over with elastic inserted inside. It stays up very well and is extremely comfortable and non-bulky. The back pocket is a nice touch - it is small but is handy for holding keys and helps me more easily distinguish front from back on cold dark mornings!
I didn't dislike anything about the pattern, though since they are quite tight (especially in the thigh area) and I'm very pear shaped I probably won't be wearing them out in public, at least not without pairing them with a longer length top. They're great for working out or wearing around the house though!
Fabric Used: 4 way stretch single sided fleece knit (December 2012 Julie's Pick from Fabric Mart)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I removed a 1" wedge from the CF and added a 1.5" wedge to the CB. Additionally I moved the legs inward 3/4" at the knee and lengthened the legs 2" below the knee and shortened them 1" above the knee. I also added 1" to the thigh width. Next time I would add even more width to the legs as very tight fitting legs in a knit fabric are not the most flattering look for me.
When trying them on I ended up taking in the waist a total of 4" and scooped out 1/2" from the front crotch curve.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I've made a couple of pairs out of stretch fleece - great for cold winter nights and weekends. If you sew this pattern be aware that they fit like leggings - definitely a body-clinging and not a body-skimming fit.
