Pattern Description:
Potato sack/grandmother style nightgown turned into a possibly wearable shirt. Why didn't listen to the other reviews?!?!?!
In reality it is a tunic/dress pattern, that is easy to sew. It just doesn't look good in the end. Pattern Sizing:
6-18. I cut a size 12 as there is a lot of ease in this. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Well, it looked like a sack. side front
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't use the instructions, as I self lined the bodice, and lined the dress. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I initially liked that it lacked a zipper, but in the end it turned out to be such a sack dress, I hated how it turned out.
Fabric Used:
a sea green eyelet from fabric.com. I was so excited about keeping the scallop from the selvages of the fabric - but in the end I had to cut it off. scallop
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Self lined the bodice and lined the skirt. I ended up cutting off the bottom of the skirt to make this into a shirt - as the dress made me look pregnant. lining
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will not sew this again. I would not recommend it. I originally wanted to make this look from the sew weekly website. While the drawing kind of looks like the dress, this looked nothing like the finished dress.
Conclusion:
This was "easy to sew," but it just doesn't look good. I wouldn't recommend this for a new sewer, as you could get discouraged at the outcome. However, it does make a kind of wearable shirt.

Yeah, this pattern (as a dress) 100% needs a belt. I do think though that the Anthropologie dress you linked to looks just as much like a nightgown.

I tried it with a belt, it didn't look any better.

What a shame you didn't get the look you wanted. I really like that Anthropologie dress. Thanks for your review with all the pitfalls you encountered.

I made this per measurements on the package back and it was HUGE. I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and those measurements have grown a full size - it's STILL big on me, but with a belt at my high waist, it hides my bump well ;)
