Update: Another (final for now) pair!

These pants have a few more tweeks to the previous adjustments. I aligned the front and back grainlines (so they ran parallel) and redrew the side seam on the back to match the front resulting in a smoother side seam and narrower leg width. Its hard to explain and impossible to photograph on the pattern pieces, but essentially I laid the back pattern piece on top of the front, matched the grainlines and reshaped the back side seam to follow the front. I have no idea if this is the usual method but it worked for me and I am (happily) getting closer to the perfect fit (you can see the difference compared to the two earlier pants in the original review).

Back view showing fit adjustment (back leg is more tapered and a slimmer fit)

Fabric is a mystery stretch blend – guessing 2% or 3% crosswise stretch.

For this pair I also stabilised the back waist using bias seam tape to stop it from stretching.

----------

Pattern Description:

A great pull-on pant featuring a wide waist band with false opening.

Pattern Sizing: 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes, very much so.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

The RTW styling and deep waist band were what caught my eye.

Fabric Used:

Stretch cotton (with 2% elastene). The wearable toile is from a rayon/poly bengaline (one of the recommended fabrics)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

Like all StyleArc patterns the cut and fit is good. However I always need to do a flat seat adjustment for pants and after some experiementation I found adjusting the crotch curve combined with Anne Rowley's Fish Eye plus a dart just under the back crotch to remove some of the excess fabric (suggested by Sandra Betzina in her Fast Fit book p225 Option 2) a good combination.

Construction notes

This is a beautifully simple pattern that is stylish and goes together quickly. The waistband with velcro closure is assembed then attached to the pants. The velcro is ideal since the waistband is stretchy and not suited to buttons/buttonholes. It is also necessary to have the opening as it is needed to put them on.

Finished pants worn with the recently reviewed Simplicity RTW inspired top

Back view (in cotton)

Back view in bengaline (recommended fabric)

Curved waistband at back

Curved waistband at front (oops I haven't fastened it properly, it does line up)

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

Most definitely. Now that I have a TNT, I may add detailing, such as back welt pockets or even front pockets in future.

Conclusion:

Great pants and super comfortable. These are destined to be a part of the SWAP 2013 "Falling for Autumn" collection.

They look perfect. SA patterns have opened a whole new world of sewing fun for me, with the excellent drafting and RTW fit.

Fabulous, in every way !!! The fit and styling are splendid. Have fun sewing more :) I like velcro closures on pant bands, they are easy and give a nice flat line under tops. I have snagged some stretch tops on the "hooks" of the velcro when I wasn't being careful though.

Wow. Fabulous results, I'm so impressed with the fit. I love the Wendy pant, but can't get the fit right in back :( I think it's a body shape thing... not the pattern!
