This pattern uses couture techniques, like that dratted hidden buttonhole band, and the overlaid seams. I think the hidden buttonholes would work with a thin fabric like silk, but with cotton or a print, why bother?

I did not do the couture techniques but like the hidden buttonhole band. That is the only feature I would put the time into on a printed dark cotton. You are correct the pattern calls for the shirt in lightweight crepe with contrasting binding.

The hidden buttonhole band is exactly why I'm checking reviews. I agree, maybe on a thin fabric, but all those layers are too much in cotton. Great shirt, but I'm replacing the button hole band. Thanks!
