|Pattern Description: |
Misses' dress with individual pattern pieces for slim, average and curvy fit and A,B,C,D cup sizes. You just have to decide if you are a slim, average or curvy type of gal!
Misses sizes from Simplicity's "Amazing Fit Collection" 6 to 14. I cut a size 12, average body shape with C cup. Whilst this C cup was according to their measurements, once made up I took in enough that dropped me down to a B cup (like a wonder diet!)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Very much so, though in the photos it is hard to see the pleat details due to the patterning on the fabric - but they are there.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy to follow due to their details. But do make yourself a cuppa, sit back and read through them BEFORE beginning to sew - then you will understand all the basting and unpicking and resewing that needs to be done. Trust me - make the cuppa!!!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Love the perfect fit of the wrap bodice section - it falls just between the boobs and sits flat - as the pattern says, "lays smoothly and stays in place" - they certainly got it right.
Loved having the hard drafting bits already done for me - cup sizes and body shape all basically ready to go.
A printed linen from Spotlight, good weight for this dress.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Omitted the belt, and used an invisible zipper. That is it.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I will be sewing this again, fingers crossed for another summer sleeveless version, but would love to try a winter weight long sleeved version later in the year - but I am wondering if those long sleeves look a little tight on the picture!!!
Great dress, good for a basic work dress or for hitting the New Year fabric sales in. Can see the sleeveless version made up with a lace bodice for a more formal look...giving myself ideas.
