Pattern Sizing: 8 - 24. I used size 14 with C cup size, but I reduced the side seams by about 1cm as there was too much ease.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes - although my Australian pattern has got a different colour way to the one here, and i appear to have copied this one exactly. Not terribly original. My husband calls this dress Bumble and he makes buzzing sounds when i come near! LOL.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the colour blocking idea. I also like the fit of the dress with the yoke and sleeves as one section, and the bodice and rest of the dress semi- fitted.
Fabric Used: Ponte cotton knit .....How divine is this fabric to sew! And flattering - it's stretchy enough to fit closely but has enough weight not to be too sheer and figure hugging. I've not sew it before, and a whole new world awaits.....ponte here i come!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made a toile in calico in size 14 and it needed a bit of taking in for a woven fabric. For the knitted fabric, I needed to take in the side seams throughout by about 1 - 2cm as there was a lot of ease. I also wanted the neckline to lie flat and not perch up. I haven't had too much success with bias binding, and i wasn't sure if it wouldn't buckle the ponte fabric so I cut a neck facing and sewed it in as normal, and i'm very pleased with the result. I left off the opening at the base of the neck and cut the back shoulders as one piece. I trimmed the neckline by 1 cm to lower it a bit throughout as suggested by the previous reviewers, and it goes very easily over one's head. I sewed the pieces in a different order, making up the front and then the back and then sewing front and back together. That way i could topstitch more easily and also make adjustments to the sizing. I also lengthened the bottom piece by about 5cm.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes. I would like to try it in a solid colour - in ponte of course. I may try it in a woven as well.
Conclusion: This pattern is a real winner - a stylish t-shirt dress that is really easy to make and wear.
