Pattern Description:
Semi-fitted, straight, above mid-knee dresses A, B, C have front darts, back pleats, self-faced yoke front and neckbands, side seam pockets, outside casing with elastic, self ties and stitched hem. A: sleeveless with self ruffle. B: short, gathered sleeves with elastic casing. C: short sleeves with stitched hem and self tab with nonfunctioning button.
Pattern Sizing:
I made size 18.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the overall shirtdress look of the pattern. I have RTW shirtdresses and found them really comfortable.
Fabric Used:
Stretch Cotton Sateen. In the future I think I will use a thinner fabric. This fabric seems a little too heavy for the construction.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I liked the pattern and the construction of it, except for the back. You were suppose to pleat in the middle back of the bodice. When I did it, it ballooned up so much. I ended up folding the pleat down to the waist and top-stitching to make it lay nicer. I also brought the side seams in between the underarm and waist to help prevent ballooning. I also wanted to make puff sleeves, but took those off because they were very balloon-like also. I know that I dont look good in puff sleeves, so I'm not sure why I chose them. I'm glad I made the sleeves flat.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew it again, just with a lighter weight fabric. I think I would add the ruffle to the front neckline next time. I would recommend it to others also.
Conclusion:
Nice pattern! |
