Pattern Description:
This is a simple pattern, using two pattern pieces, to create a loose-fitting top, draped at the front and back. Pattern Sizing:
The book uses Japanese sizes, which are small for westerners. I made the largest size, the L/XL, which fits my measurements (I am usually a UK/Aus size 10). Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
This is definitely one of the simpler patterns from the Drape Drape books. It is very easy to follow the instructions and it is a quick and easy pattern to make. Great for beginners. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is very quick and easy to make and the resulting top is comfortable and stylish. The only problem for me was that the top tends to slip off the shoulders so I will add lingerie tabs to hold it in place. On a smaller or shorter person the neckline may be a bit low. I will always wear my top with a crop top or cami underneath as bending forward is a bit revealing! Fabric Used:
A light, cotton knit fabric with a good drape. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None. I wanted to see how this pattern looked without any changes and I am happy with it as it is. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I can see myself making this again. It is useful as a casual summer top that is easy to wear. Conclusion:
I am really pleased with this pattern. I usually modify everything I make but I am happy with this exactly as it is - length, fit, style, everything. The top is flattering, comfortable and easy to make - win, win, win! The instructions say to finish the neck edge with a rolled hem. Don't let the lack of an overlocker/serger put you off here, it could easily be finished with a close zig-zag stitch as it doesn't show.
