Pattern Description: Dress with inverted pleats and 3/4-length, slightly belled sleeves
Pattern Sizing: Burda 36-44
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the way the soft inverted pleats fit the bodice and accentuate the waist, but don't call attention to the hips. My dislike is that, in retrospect, I should have made full-length sleeves (although the 3/4-length sleeves are pretty); my bad, not the pattern's.
Fabric Used: A fabric I inherited from a dear sewing friend who passed away. I am not sure what it is, some kind of a cotton single knit I believe. It was very stiff when I got it, like it had a lot of fabric sizing on it; but I washed and dried it and it became incredibly soft with a soft drape. Yet it holds its shape wonderfully.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not make any design changes. However, there was a lot of ease in the pattern, so I made the following alterations to adjust the ease:
1) I deepened the front pleat by 1-inch.
2) I took the front and back side seams in by approximately 1-inch each.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would definately sew this pattern again, the next time making the sleeves full length. I recommend this pattern to others - but I do suggest a soft knit or a fabric with a soft hand that will drape nicely. Other fabrics may make the pleats too stiff and accentuate the hips.
Conclusion: A very feminine dress that accentuates the waist and is very comfortable to wear.
