Pattern Description: Knit top with gathered front option and sleeve variations
Pattern Sizing: 4 - 16, I made the size 12 and then size 10
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, just like.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes quite easy. I think these wrapped tops with side ruching are very easy to sew and get them to look just right. plus very flattering on the body. Simple sewing and a nice ready-to-wear look.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really like this pattern, particularly for winter as it is a high V-neckline, so that it is not too low cut at all. I have noticed a lot of wrap front knit styles are often a bit low cut and that is kind of a pain to adjust. this is more of a closed V-neck so perfect for winter. I like the sleeve variations but have not tried anything but the plain long sleeve yet.
I like this pattern so much that I have made it 4 times in the last month.
The only issue I had with the pattern is that the shoulder seams were not in the right place, they tended to pull to the back and a bit of analysis made me think it was actually too big in the shoulders. For the last version for myself I made the size 10 instead of size 12 and the fit across the shoulders is much better.
Fabric Used: Bamboo knit, Rayon knits and Cotton-lycra knit.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: No changes made.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I am sure I will sew it again, I want to make a version with the gathered sleeves as well.
Conclusion: Perfect knit top - one of my new favorite styles with the gathered front. Kind of similar to Simplicity 1916 which I also like very much and has virtually the same fit.
Here is my Blog Post with photos of the four versions I made in December. Somehow I think there are more knit wrap tops in my future!
