XS-S-M-L-XL-XXL: I sewed a medium
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Very much.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Umm... yes. I could not get my head around the directions for making the in-seam buttonholes. I still found that I had to do a bit of handsewing to make the buttonholes and arm openings 'neat'. This may be because my fabric is so thick.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This cape looks terrible on the dressform! But, once worn, you are transformed in to a high fashion diva. It's nice and roomy so you could wear a bulky sweater underneath too. But, somehow you still have a shape underneath!
A double cloth Oscar de le Renta wool from my local fabric shop. I did find the same fabric avaiable on Mood.com.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
My fabric proved too thick to make it through the buttonhole process. So, I used a combination of snaps and buttons. I also added snaps far down the cape as it was a little off grain and wanted to swing open.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Could I sew it again? yes. I would like to make a version for my mom. It's perfect for a Florida winter.
It seems wildly impractical as a winter coat, but it's fun for milder days in winter and in the fall. There are more photos on my blog, Miss Celie's Pants
