Pattern Description: Bustier style dress with draped skirt detail. Sewn through Craftsy's online course.
Pattern Sizing:36-44, I chose size 36
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?The bodice did, the skirt I changed to a circle skirt
Were the instructions easy to follow? As mentioned I used Gertie's Bombshell class from Craftsy and having that helped tremendously. As far as the Burda instructions, I assume that they were typical Burda, almost impossible to use, but I didn't use them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It was drafted very well, and with the swap of a different shaped skirt, addition of straps or not, you could have a very different dresses. The bodice is a great foundation for many uses. Gertie shows, in the class, how to make it as separates as well.
Fabric Used:Silk Dupioni from fabric.com
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:Added 1/2" of length to the waist and changed the draped skirt to a circle.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes and yes! I would also highly recommend the class from Craftsy as it really helped turn this into a beautifully made dress. The techniques I learned from the class I have continued to use. And as I stated above, I can use this bodice pattern as the base of many dresses, which I plan to do.
Conclusion: I made this dress to be in a wedding last spring and the pattern combined with the class was worth every penny I spent. I think the dress is flattering and can be made to be formal or casual and fun. More pictures and info on my blog! |
