I don't have time to take pictures, but since this hasn't been reviewed, I thought I should at least get this out there. The pattern itself is fine, the design just needed a little tweak.
I made View C out of a horizontal red and white striped cotton knit from FabricMart (probably two years old). It took right at a yard of fabric, with a strip left (sorry, I don't remember whether it was 45" or 60"). It definitely was not the perfect fabric for this pattern. It needs a fluid knit.
This went together pretty easily, but the strap is a little awkward looking.
It is pretty shapeless, although not a tent at all, and it might be ok in another fabric. I managed to "match" my stripes, not realizing that my "matching" shifted them off grain one set of stripes. I was sewing the hem when I realized it, and this nearly became a wadder. I ended up just letting the hem roll, rather than putting a real hem on it.
I added a piece of sports elastic at the waist, and I was completely amazed at how cute it was!
I don't think it's my Holy Grail of knit dresses, but it's a cute, fast and easy knock-around dress, especially if you add a waist. |
