|Pattern Description: (from pattern envelope) Pullover dress has close-fitting, self-lined bodice, raised waist, seamed skirt...|
Pattern Sizing: 8-16 in one envelope
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very clear and easy instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love how comfortable it is to wear, the simplicity of the silhouette, yet it's edgy as well, without being over the top. Very versatile - can go from casual to dressy.
It's also a well-drafted pattern - everything went together very smoothly.
Fabric Used: I used a woven with just a bit of stretch to it. The content is an unknown blend - very nice feel and drape, and a bit heavy ("winter weight"). I was concerned that it would be too heavy and drag the dress down, but it's stable enough that it isn't a problem.
I used a bemberg rayon with a bit of stretch to line the bodice.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made my usual shoulder adjustments (narrow, sloping, forward). I also added 1/2" to the neckline - my bra straps would have shown if I hadn't. Anyone with 'average' or wide shoulders would probably be fine with the pattern as drafted. I shortened the lower skirt by 4", and I'm happy with the length on my 5'4" bod.
A note about shortening (or lengthening) this pattern: The pattern pieces show several areas to adjust the length, on both the upper skirt and the lower skirt. If you try to adjust the length on the upper skirt, this throws the dimensions of the lower skirt off, so test it before cutting your precious fabric! The MUCH easier solution (and what I did) is to simply adjust the length on the lower skirt only.
Here is a picture of the upper skirt attached to the bodice
The lower skirt is all rectangles sewn together - MUCH easier to adjust the length simply by adding or subtracting at the lower hem.
I did not add a zipper, because my fabric has a bit of stretch. Even my muslin (Just the bodice - made from a woven) was easy to get on over my head. I think if I were to make a more form-fitted version from a woven I would add the zipper, otherwise, there is enough ease to get away without one.
I also added pockets (because I love pockets!). I did a separate blog post here detailing how I added the side seam pockets (a tutorial with lots of pictures!)

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I plan on making a summery version out of a lighter weight woven - maybe linen. It's a great dress, and yes indeed, if you like this style I highly recommend the pattern!
