Pattern Description:
A friend asked me to make pillows from her father's favorite shirts. I purchased shirts from salvation army to make samples for her to visualize how they would look. Shirt Pillow
Fabric Used:
Men's dress shirts and a Woman's lace blouse purchased from salvation army.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I purchased standard pillow forms from JoAnns with the idea that the pillow covers could be mailed and the recipient could purchase the forms at a local hobby store to reduce mailing costs when necessary. The men's shirts used a 16" square and a 12x16" form and the women's used a 12" form.
The shirts were cut so the button front and front pockets were on the pillow.
Conclusion:
These have great potential. We decided to use piping on her shirts which dressed them up a little. She is considering putting something special in the pockets but I am not sure what she selected. For larger pillows I can visualize making a quilted top, 4 patch, etc.
