| Pattern Description:
A simple cowl neck knit top. The pattern consists of 3 pieces.
Pattern Sizing:
StyleArc patterns come single-sized only. I sewed a size 20.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I thought it did - aside from the fact that my version is plus-sized and the envelope drawing is most definitely not.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions are very minimal, but I thought they were quite clear. You don't really need a lot of instruction with this top. There's not that much to it.
Having said that, the one time I had a problem understanding a step in a StyleArc pattern (not this one), I emailed Chloe who was super helpful in assisting me. She even put together some detailed instructions with diagrams and emailed them to me. So, if you can't figure this pattern out, help is only an email away.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the drape of the neckline, it's not too revealing. I like how easy it is to sew and how economical with fabric it is.
Fabric Used:
I used a fabric from Spotlight called "Dry Knit". I felt it was perfect for this top. It's quite heavy but drapey.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added 1.5" to the side seams, tapering to nothing by the underarm. I also lengthened the top by 2" and the sleeves by 2". I felt the sleeves were a little tight on this version, so I'll be giving them some extra room in my next version.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I absolutely will be sewing this one again. I think this would have to be the most versatile pattern I've sewn lately. I'll definitely be turning this into a dress - for my version of the Vogue 1250!
Conclusion:
I was a bit uncertain about this pattern when I first received it (it came free with some other patterns I ordered), not thinking that it would be particularly flattering for my apple-shaped body, but I'm glad I took the plunge. |
