Pattern Sizing:
I cut an 18 A top, and 20 hips.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it looks just like the drawings.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very easy. If you want a beginning shirt pattern, I would recommend this one.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The collar stand was easy to do, and went together well. Unlike the cuffs, which had excess material to fold in.
Fabric Used:
I used a batik quilting cotton, so it's rather crisp.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Square shoulders adjustment.
High bust adjustment.
Increased length.
I had to narrow the shoulders - note that I usually have to broaden them, so this was quite unexpected.
I had to adjust larger starting in the high-hip area, which is unusual. I usually adjust larger only in the lower hip.
I also adjusted the side seam at the underarm after making it up, it was too large there.
Adjusted armscye in back for broadness across the shoulder blades.
adjusted front pattern adjusted back pattern
I did not do, but should have done a sway-back adjustment, there is pooling at the back waist. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, this was a wearable muslin. I plan to make this now in Kaufman Radiance silk-cotton blend. |
It's not bad for a muslin. The next one will be even better, and in the meantime you've got a snazzy casual shirt!
