Pattern Description:
Loose-fitting blouson top with 'batwing' sleeves.
Pattern Sizing:
Sandra Betzina sizing A to J, I sewed an E. I normally sew a 42 in Burda.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were fabulous. I usually sew BurdaStyle magazine patterns. These Sandra Betzina instructions were poles apart from Burda!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love everything about it. The sleeves formed from the back sleeve overlapping the front seams, the little gathers at the top of the front sleeve adding emphasis to the raglan sleeve styling. The blouson effect. And that there is no zip or other fastenings.
Fabric Used:
Polyester chiffon. This meant french seams and narrow rolled hems to tame the fraying.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes. For the next version I'm planning to try the longer length style A. I think this could work well as a winter separate too in a solid knit fabric. I'm guessing you could add a turtleneck slim fit top underneath for warmth and it would still look good.
Conclusion:
Great top. Easy to sew, even with chiffon, stylish yet very easy to wear.
