| Pattern Description:
Misses'/Women's tops with neckline and sleeve variations. I sewed view F, the least embellished with longer flutter sleeves.
Pattern Sizing:
AA - 10, 12, 14, 16, 18. I sewed a 10 but it's safe to say I needed to improvise an 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Almost - my fabric did not drape much and it made me look rather pregnant.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes - actually this shirt constructed very quickly despite having so many pattern pieces. With the flutter sleeves there are TWO armholes to hem, which is not obvious in the drawings. My fabric was lovely.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I dislike the size range (I'm usually an 8).
I like that there is no back seam, the empire waist, and the sleeve variations and embellishments.
I thought I'd like the elastic waist but I removed mine to fit the side seams and don't miss it. The casing sewn in the seam allowance was awkward. I have no problem getting into the top and it looks more fitted without the gathering.
Fabric Used:
A polyester remnant from JoAnn Fabric, light weight and silky.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I shortened the top two inches because I am petite. I also ended up taking in 5/8 inch on the side seams - I think I could have forgone that if I'd downsized the pattern to begin with.
There are also now two pleats - see my photo where I've inserted my fingers to show them - that take in a little of the sleeve flutter and a little of the 'tummy' fabric.
Took out the elastic waist as noted.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. Especially if this style of top is flattering to your figure, which it is mine. Adjustments were pretty easy to make, and I'm excited to try the other arrangements or even put it in a knit.
Conclusion:
Good top pattern to add to a pattern collection. |
