Pattern Description: skirt with hidden pockets and very loose fitting short sleeve v-neck top
Pattern Sizing: 6 - 18, I made a size 12 skirt with some fitting adjustment.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, although I made a couple of changes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes skirt instructions are very easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is my favorite skirt pattern, love the hidden pockets. Note that it is very short, I am 5'3" and I added about 6 inches to the length. Otherwise it is more like a beach coverup skirt, super short.
Fabric Used: wool gabardine
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Lengthened the skirt. This is the second time I have sewn this skirt so I decided to omit the waistband and make it a smooth top.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am sure I will sew it again, this skirt has such a great fit and there is something very fun about those hidden pockets.
Conclusion: If you are a beginner or intermediate sewist and wanting to make a Vogue designer pattern, then this skirt is a great choice. (not the top - that is a bit more advanced and I did not like the style/fit of the top - although there are many positive reviews).
Next I plan to make this skirt in a print or maybe a color block version.

Renata said... I agree, it is the best skirt pattern ever, as long as it is lengthened to suit one's taste. I also lengthened mine 6 inches. I am making a second one ATM and will now try it without a waistband. I also like the top, but then I like my tops a bit looser, although I went down a size for the top. 1/15/13 8:44 PM
velosewer said... Well if you and Renata both lengthened the skirt by 6 inches then that will be my first adjustment (and remove the waist band) when I make up this skirt. I liked like to make up the top in a summer weight fabric too. 1/15/13 9:45 PM
Beautiful skirt, beautifully made. Fab!
