Pattern Description: Knit knee-length dress with front surplice (mock wrap) neckline, short kimono sleeves and an easily customizable midriff section. The skirt features in-seam pockets and falls in the soft folds of a vintage half-circle skirt. The pattern includes optional stripes placement guide, cup sizing A-D and a bust alteration line.
Pattern Sizing: 30 - 50. I made a 30C with an adjustment to fit my 34A bust. Cake Patterns sizing is unique and highly customisable.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Exactly.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. Great instructions and illustrations and the website provides heaps of extra tips and tutorials to get this dress perfect.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved everything. Very flattering, good instructions. The neck and sleeve bands give a very professional finish.
Fabric Used: A hideous quality cotton jersey from Spotlight. Amazingly it looks ok made up.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I had to modify the bottom curve of the bodice quite a bit to get it to fit my A cup. You can read about my adjustments on my blog here or see the picture of my adjustment on the Tiramisu Sewalong Flickr Page here
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I am already working on Tira #2 in a better quality fabric. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes the style of dress. It is very flattering and works with many different types of knit/stretch fabrics.
Conclusion: I love this dress, I love this pattern. I plan to make at least two more. It has been a fantastic introduction to my first dress made in a stretch fabric. You can see more pictures on my blog here.
