Pattern Description: Misses dress, tunic and headband
Pattern Sizing:6-12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes- very straightforward.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The shaped placket is very pretty and allows you to create lots of fun fabric combinations for a great looking dress, top or beach tunic. No dislikes.
Fabric Used: A soft, lovely feeling 100% cotton print by Art Gallery Fabrics from Five Eighth Seams in Charleston, SC. Fabric Link The pattern and color reminded me of waves on the sea and since I made it for an upcoming cruise, it seemed very appropriate.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:In my cold medicine fog I accidentally lopped off the lower edge of the front at the cutting line for the top rather than the tunic. After staring at it for a few moments I decided it was a great place for a row of piping made with the new piping foot on my serger. I used the scraps of fabric left over from the front placket. It turned out to be one of those "lemonade out of lemons" situations and I really like it.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I'll be sewing one for my mom in the next few weeks before we set sail. I highly recommend this pattern and can't wait to make some summer tops in pique.
prostheticsgirl said... Oh I just love your version! I think the piping is such a nice detail and I love the contrasting colors. I made one of these for my mom (also for a cruise) and now I want to make one for me! 1/16/13 8:50 AM
