Pattern Description:
Simplicity 4762~Boy's and Men's Vests and Ties. Pattern Sizing:
Small to X-Large (Tie comes in boy's or men's ~ no sizing) Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Instructions are super-duper easy to follow. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love that it was quick and super easy. You can make so many of these in a days time. Great wardrobe builder for your man. Fabric Used:
I used a dull satin. We needed something quick, so that worked.
I used a lightweight fusible interfacing ( felt like a fusible voille almost). The best interfacing to use is one that I'll be purchasing from Fashion Sewing Supply~ Pro-WEFT Supreme LIGHTweight Fusible Interfacing, 60". Pam gave me a great tip on how to use it to itself to get the proper weight I want for my ties. Fashion Sewing Supply Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
No changes...sewn as is. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will definitely sew this again! Conclusion:
This tie was the right size and it looks great! I love the smile on my husband's face when he got dressed for church...score for me!!
He will be getting more in any color he wants, and we will be making those vests, even reversible ones!

caper81 said... Nice tie, I just love yellow! On your blog you said you just put the satin in the dryer before sewing with it. Was that to shrink the fabric? I bought this pattern recently because my husband wears a lot of ties (to work and to church as well :) Glad you say its easy, I've been a little intimidated to sew a tie :/ 1/17/13 5:32 PM
mesewlot said... It truly is easy; and, I put it in the dryer to pretreat it. It will not be washed but dry cleaned...so yes, it was to reduce any shrinking. Thanks for asking! Much success on making your hubby's ties...it's addictive! :) 1/18/13 0:54 AM
