Pattern Description:
This is an asymmetrical coat with a Mod or Nehru collar sleeve vents and princess seams Pattern Sizing:
36-44 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
More or less, mine is bulkier fabric so the lines aren't quite as sleek Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't look at them. Instead I used Gertie's Starlet Suit course, her various blog tutorials and the book "Tailoring." What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the style lines. It's elegant and "different." I've been hankering after a winter white coat for a while, and this seemed to have a perfect mix of fashionable and timeless. Another view Fabric Used:
Mood winter white wool. The fabric has lines of a plasticy material running through it, not sure what it is, but if gives the coat a really pleasing texture and some interest to the eye. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None, are you kidding me! I was very nervous of screwing this up. So no style changes. I did add lots of things that Burda doesn't mention, such as hair canvas, a back stay, shoulder guards, etc. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
If this is to your style then you should sew with confidence! I did find that the 38 was too tight so I had to go up to a 40. But it could be my expanding physique that is a problem, not the pattern. Conclusion:
I am very happy with my coat! For lots more detail and progress shots go to my Blog

This is gorgeous! How did I not notice this pattern in the issue? I have a winter white wool I've been looking for the right pattern for, and I may end up copying you.

This is lovely. I appreciate all the work that goes into something like this following Gertie and not wanting to make a mistake....great job. Burda isn't the easier for this kind of stuff but their stuff is drafted so beautifully. Keep up the great work!

Love your coat! Don't think buttons are too big, and I think shoulder pads are a good idea...will help with the wrinkling on the sleeve just under the shoulder seam! They also help save the shoulders when the coat is hanging on a hanger in off season! You did a lovely job with matching the back seams! Wonderful style for you. I seem to get better results in a thick fabric when I use the clapper when pressing. I don't know why it helps so much, but it really does, along with grading and trimming intersecting seams! Thanks so much for the review.
