Pattern Description: The pattern is for 7 coordinate pieces. I chose to make the knit jacket.
Pattern Sizing: Size 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? No it did not. Since McCalls chose to show the jacket in black fabric you can't tell from the pattern picture that the wrong side of the fabric shows on the shawl collar. I used a very expensive purple/black tweed knit, but the wrong side (solid black) is visible when the garment is completed.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Mostly, except the back pattern piece, which is positioned on the fold, states "Cut 2". Only the pattern piece layout diagram only shows one laid out. Do they mean 2 halves? Other patterns state "Cut 1 on fold." At first I thought they really wanted 2 back pieces, but, like I said, the cut diagram didn't show it and the directions used 1 back piece only. I think it was stated incorrectly on the back pattern piece.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Fabric Used: A poly/cotton knit
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I am 5'3" tall and I added 2 inches to the sleeve length before cutting. The sleeves still came out too short, so I had to add a cuff to each sleeve.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I would never sew it again - actually I dislike it so much the piece is going into the goodwill bag. And no, I don't recommend this pattern.
Conclusion: It's regrettable because I really liked the material I was sewing and I hoped for it to come out well. I don't think I did anything wrong in the sewing process, but I sure didn't like the results.

Yes, I believe they should specify if the wrong side of the fabric is going to show. Can you salvage some of the fabric for something else ...or as accents like pockets or trim ?
