| Pattern Description: button down, collared top, View C
Pattern Sizing: 8-18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? The pattern is labeled *Easy and for most part it is Very Easy but at certain steps the instructions omit very important instruction because it assumes you know how to do facings, collars, and button hole panels. This makes the project not as *Easy as designated.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? *Sigh. I'm going to itemize this.
Dislikes: Not 1 single dot matched up, facings were way too short and didn't match up with the front piece edges. Had an excess of 1" on both sides of front pieces. Surely cut wrong size so I checked but no, so I didn't know what to do with the excess front pieces and the shortage in facing so I rounded my seam. Later discovered that the 2nd collar point was affected by doing so. The short sleeves ended up being way too long at the shoulder, odd shaped too. The last things is that the pattern looked like it had been printed with ghost ink, could barely see the cutting lines.
Liked: Notches matched. Liked the fact that despite seemingly major errors it still works out very nicely.
Fabric Used: Cotton- quilting
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Shorten sleeves
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would sew it again. I highly recommended this to sewers with some experience in buttonholes, facings, and collars.
Conclusion: For such a short shirt there is a lot of design ease. I would feel better going down a size and making some bust alterations for a snug fit. Because it is so short it will only tuck into high waisted pants, skirts, or shirts. Want to pair this shirt with New Look 6100, view B with a modified waistband. Love this shirt untucked with my powder puff blue corduroy jacket, just needs a high waisted brown skirt with it. Think it looks pretty cute tied into knots at side. Would wear this in the summer with any kind of shorts. Also think a thin brown belt with leggings might look alright but I wear that look out so...
Oh yea this is my first shirt with a collar and button holes. Previously did some button loops, them are much easier for me. | Buy this pattern for $4.49 Add to Bag |

Great review and congrats on your first shirt! Good to know about the drafting issues too.
