Pattern Description:
MISSES'/MISSES' PETITE DRESS: Semi-fitted, pullover dress has low neckline and narrow hems. B: stitched hem on sleeves.
Pattern Sizing :
Large (16-18)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy! Very intuitive as well. No surprises.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Do like: It is an easy fitting dress which is nice for a change. I love the large pockets as well. Goes well with sweaters, t-shirts or a scarf to keep it decent as it has a plunging neckline.
Don't like that the vents on view B (the one that I made) are a bit high cut.
Don’t like that it is designed for the larger size in each range. See more about this below.
No lining! I fixed that problem!
Fabric Used:
Outer shell: An embroidered black ultra-suede. Inner shell: A standard medium weight lining fabric.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Being that I have hair past my waist I am not too fond of pullovers but I do love the look of them. So I put an invisible
zipper in the back.
I lined this dress as well because there is no lining for it. I find it fits better. Also, ultra suede, despite being
attractive, does not feel nice on the wrong side, so a lining really was needed.
I don't like that the cut for each size tends toward the larger of the range. So my large was a bit big on me. I took
advantage of the new back seam and nipped it in. Then I put in the zipper.
Made hanger loops because this dress has a knack for slipping off of the hanger without any.
Because black does not photograph well I zoomed in to get a shot of this lovely embroidered ultrasuede. click here
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Definitely recommend to others! I love this dress because it was not too formal for the family Christmas gathering but not too relaxed. It really depends on the fabric used. I would like to make this in a lighter fabric. I have plaid and striped
Suitings that would be fun for this, and would line it!
I most certainly would recommend it with but suggest that if you are in the lower size of any of the ranges that you make the size one down from you. Or if you already have this pattern just nip in the side seams a bit.
Conclusion:
A great wardrobe builder that is do-able for all skill levels!

becca a said... What lovely fabric. Thanks for the heads up about the sizing. I often find that Vogue sizing runs big. Could you post a picture of the dress on you? 1/20/13 10:10 AM
