|I intended to make this pattern as a jumper -- something I could wear with a button-down shirt or a turtleneck -- but after I finished it, I hated that look with this. Happily, it looks wonderful with my RTW wrap sweater. |
As with all Butterick patterns I've done recently, the sizing is crazy. My measurements say I'm a 14, which is what I cut, but I wound up having to take it in a LOT to make it fit. I'd probably cut an 8 or a 10 next time. (I took in all the seams about an extra half inch and the side about 2.5 inches each.)
I really like the way corduroy -- the kind I used has no wales -- looks with this pattern and I received several compliments on it.
The top is lined, which is a nice bonus. I used Bemberg rayon for the lining.
I also eliminated the top stitching down the front of the bodice.
Other than fit -- make a muslin, don't be like me! -- the dress was really easy to make and the pattern was very simple to follow. Good, clear instructions.
