Pattern Description:
Semi-fitted, lined top
Pattern Sizing:
Loose fitting. I made a 16, but next time will use 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, mostly.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Interesting lines created by the seaming, potential for colorblocking. The top seam is not straight, it basically includes bust darts within it. Like the concealed snaps hidden by the front band, very clean. Also the lining creates a clean edge to the sleeves.
Fabric Used:
Lightweight cotton.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I widened the neck a little to make it more boat neck and less crew neck. Took in a inch or so at the waist to make it more shaped and less boxy. Topstitched the seams with red thread to make them more pronounced on the orange fabric.
Would you sew it again?
Yes, I intend to try it again this next summer with a combination of different colors or textures in the pattern pieces. Because the pieces are so small, one can easily use left over stash material. I have 1/2 yard of tan check linen I will try combining with 1 yard of white linen for the next one.
Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I think it is a very clever, architectural, clean looking top.
Conclusion: Not sure why more sewers haven't tried it. The drawings on the pattern envelope don't do it justice.
