Pattern Description:
Pullover dress has front extending into back collar, fitted, front pleated bodice, raised waist, tie ends, two-piece sleeves with barrel cuffs, and stitched hem. Pattern Sizing:
8-24 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, very much so. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but I think they are a bit sneaky putting lots of steps into one to make it look Very Easy! What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really love the sleeves and the super long sash, the bodice is very similar in construction to Vogue 1287 (but easier). Fabric Used:
John Kaldor Jersey Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Nothing special - I cut a size 8 top and went up to a size 14 hip as I don't like bagginess round the bust, the lovely sash hides the fact that the top and skirt didn't quite come together properly. I found that sashes are put in very low and are in constant danger of being sewn in to the waist so I would recommend putting them in slightly higher up (I think I put them up by about half an inch ish and it didn't affect the end result at all) mine were also very heavy so after I'd tacked them to bodice I then removed them in annoyance until I was ready to sew the front and back together. I wish I'd read the reviews that say that the cuffs run large as I could have done with making them a bit tighter (which would have been easy to do). Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew it again but have so many patterns waiting that I probably won't. I would definitely recommend it to others but with a small note of caution - I didn't find it Very Easy - I think the combination of stretch fabric and construction that relies on matching accurately isn't necessarily for a beginner.
And measure your wrists! Conclusion:
A really well designed, flattering dress!
