| Pattern Description: From the StyleArc website: a great ankle length elastic pull on pant featuring a tucked knee patch and design line treatment.
Pattern Sizing:
Sizes 6 yo 30. Style Arc sizes more closely correspond to present day RTW sizes, unlike the traditional big 4 patterns. StyleArc does not "nest" several sizes on the same pattern paper. They simply trace off one particular size for you. So you cannot blend sizes. I sewed a size 16. My waist measure was a bit smaller than their envelope called for and my hips a bit bigger, but with the stretch fabric it was fine.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes! Obviously, with tight stretch pants, the silhouette is going to closely mirror your particular lower body shape.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were brief, but accurate. There were even some pictures. I think a beginner could easily tackle this project.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the interesting patch work and the top stitching. The elastic waist band doesn't look so good, but it does feel good.
Fabric Used: Flocked, polyester stretch twill.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made no changes at all. These were a first run. I think the crotch curve was very good. Similar to the Burdastyle crotch curve which I find is much better than Vogue or Simplicity. I'd like to make these again, and next time I would add two inches to the height of the waist in the back. I have a full bottom and I think this is all the adjustment that I need.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would definitely sew it again. It has style, comfort and is a quick sew.
Conclusion:
I like these pants and want to give them another go in a less stretchy, heavier fabric to see what will happen. These are my first StyleArc pants and I would certainly try another style from their collection. For further pictures and chit-chat, check out my blog post. |
