Contour waist skirt with fly front, back yoke and traditional 5 pockets
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Instructions are very brief so previous experience of making a skirt and a fly front zip is an advantage
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Liked design and scope for becoming TNT skirt pattern. Well drafted with pieces fitting well. Smaller (3/8 inch and 1/4 inch) seam allowances help with easy sewing and joining curved pieces - though they have a downside: less scope for alteration after cutting out. One piece pattern for contour waistband (and one piece for facing) reduces bulk from seams.
Fabric Used:Cotton moleskin with facings and pocket linings in coordinated brushed cotton
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Lengthened skirt (original pattern length is 21 inches from waist) by 3 inches. Omitted belt loops. Slight increase in flare (total 4cm) to improve walking ease with increased length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes to both these questions.
Conclusion: My first experience of StyleArc. Very happy with fit and drafting. Will probably tweak pattern very slightly next time I make it, but could not ask for better first attempt straight out of pattern envelope. I would feel confident about using other StyleArc skirt/bottom half patterns (and look forward to doing so). |
I love StyleArc patterns and would really like to see a photo of yours, if you can. Glad your first experience with StyleArc was a good one!
