Pattern Description:
Tapered, cuffed pants have front seam detail and elasticized back stitching. Close fitting, elastic waist and topstitiching. Pattern Sizing:
Two size ranges (XS-S-M) and (L-XL-XXL) Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Well, sort of... see fabric choice consequences and pattern changes below. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, the usual direct Vogue instructions. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I was drawn to this pattern by the front seaming and Shams review!
Fabric Used:
I picked a stretch denim trying to get a "skinny jean" result. Unfortunately my fabric was pretty stiff, not the best choice. I'm currently making a second pair from a very stretchy "mystery" stash fabric, kind of like a yoga pant type fabric. I'm seeing a much nicer result. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I eliminated the hem detail in the front and back.
I added 5/8" to the side seams for insurance. I ended up removing most of the addition, and additionally tapering from below the hip down by another 1/4" on the knit version. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, but a stretchy drapey fabric may be the best choice. I'd like to try again with a stretch woven that has more drape.
Conclusion:
These pants are nicely drafted. I always struggle with fit in the back. My denim version has lots of diagonal folds, while the knit version is much smoother... fabric choices plus body shape issues at work here rather than pattern deficiency. If you're looking for a slim pant, this one is worth a try.
The topstitching is a really fun, fashion forward detail IMHO. On my black stretchy version I pulled out my twin needle with very RTW results!

These look great and the top-stitching with the twin needle does indeed give it a very RTW finish. Thanks for the review.

The top stitching is lovely. I look forward to seeing your stretchy black version.
