This review is for the short-sleeved T-shirt View C and is my entry in the One Pattern Many Looks for 2013.
Adjustments made for all my versions include an FBA, lengthening the sleeve by about 1", adding a bit to the back hip and making the whole thing a bit longer. I started with a size 20 and went from there.
Version 1 - an aqua striped poly/cotton/spandex. This top is made exactly as the pattern except for the band which I turned around so the stripes go up & down. Luckily my fabric stretched both ways. Close up of neckline.
Version 2 - Red viscose with mesh ruffles. I saw a top in Nordstrom back in 2011 which had ruffles like this and I stored that image in the back of my mind. The ruffles gave me some grief and I'm still not sure about them. Better view of the ruffles.
Version 3 - Aqua colour blocked Tshirt. The back & part of the front of this top are made from an aqua knit I bought in Anaheim for $2.95 per yard. The other 2 fabrics are leftover from previous tops. I finished the neckline with aqua fold over elastic which I bought thinking it might match but not having my swatches with me, I had no idea. But it did! Fold over elastic close up.
Version 4 - Red colour blocked T-shirt with zipper. This T has some of the red viscose used in version 2 plus another viscose print & mesh on one sleeve. Once again I used fold over elastic on the neck. I got the zipper from Marcy Tilton and it has been waiting for the perfect item to go on. This is it. The front does not open - the zip has just been sewn on top of the seam to show it off to its best advantage. Close up of the gorgeous zipper and pull.
Version 5 - Purple T with bubble knit sleeves & band. I had both of these fabrics sitting together in my sewing room & realised they matched. The plain purple is a cotton/spandex while the bubble knit is polyester. I really like the texture the bubble knit gives the Tshirt.
Conclusion
While I have used this pattern before, this time I adjusted it to be a bit more roomy on me. I'm very happy with all my versions and they have certainly filled a hole in my wardrobe. I was in desperate need of tops for summer and the contest was just the stimulus I needed to get them made. I highly recommend this pattern, not just for the T shirt but all the other pieces too.

LOVE the ruffles on the sleeves of the purple version - very sassy. LOVE the way you have done the ruffles on the red version - gives it edge. But I must say - after careful consideration - my 2 favourites are the block colour / pattern red and blue - rocking the zipper on the red. Great job with these. 1/29/13 1:35 AM
