Pattern Description: From the StyleArc website: "Great fitting narrow leg jean featuring all the traditional Jean features along with a contoured waistband sitting just on the waist". I made size 8 based on my measurements. I find this pattern to run wider than Jalie jeans with less of a difference between waist and hip size than Jalie (which is the only other brand of jeans pattern I have sewn).

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are pretty good--more detailed than the earlier StyleArc pattern instructions. However, I have made jeans so many times that I don't really follow the instructions at this point. The instructions come with illustrations of how to do the zipper, but I prefer to have my zipper offset further from the center front so that there is more overlap to keep it hidden. I follow the Sandra Betzina Zipper Tutorial.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the slim fit of the jeans and the fact that the pattern has all the jeans details, including a 5th pocket and nicely shaped back pockets. The waistband is contoured--unfortunately it doesn't fit my waist and I will have to redraft it.

The pockets include an extension that gets sewn into the fly seams to hold the pockets in place--this is a nice feature.

Fabric Used: Very dark wash denim with a great deal of stretch. I can't remember where I got it.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I altered the back yoke pattern piece by slashing and overlapping in two places to remove over 1" of width at the waist. After I sewed the back and yoke together, I realized that I needed to trim the height of the yoke in the center and I needed to further reduce the width at the center back seam. Next time I will also lower the cro*ch curve. The waistband is 3-4" too long for me and I had to reduce the length. I do need to make these alterations whenever I make pants given the difference between my hip and waist measurements.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I have actually sewn this twice. When the pattern first came out I made a pair of jeans but didn't do my alterations well--I took darts in the yoke to reduce the excess width at the waist, which resulted in the back poofing out unattractively and the legs (which I took in too much in an attempt to make very skinny jeans) were uncomfortable as my denim wasn't very stretchy. I have not taken pictures of the wadder pair. I put the pattern aside for months until I found this very stretchy denim in my stash and the motivation to tackle it again. I plan to sew another pair again in a stretchy black twill soon, as I love these jeans.

Conclusion: This is a nicely drafted pattern with all the bells and whistles to produce a real RTW style pair of jeans. The pieces fit together well. Although I haven't perfected the fit yet, they are very comfortable.

OK, maybe I have finally fixed the links.

I couldn't open the bottom two links but looking good from what I could see in the thumbnail. I'm envious of those who look good in these jeans.

I love your jeans. I have this pattern and am very interested in your review. I have only made one StyleArc before and found the fit was too big(I ordered according to their sizing page). What size did you order and how does that compare with what you normally cut out?

Sewing addict, I just edited the review to show the size--size 8 based on my measurements. I think it runs a bit bigger than the measurements.
