Pattern Description: knit dress with mock wrap front and midriff band and circular skirt with custom bust cup AND waist sizing
Pattern Sizing:multisized to fit 30" to 50" above bust measurements
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Much better!
Were the instructions easy to follow? mostly, with a few unclear spots but found additional guidance from the website and the sew-along pages
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I LOVED:
* customized sizing for bodice based on BOTH above bust measurement AND bra cup size
*customized sizing for skirt
*customized sizing for midriff band based on both bodice and skirt sizes
* the way it fit the on the very first try with no FBA... that never happens!
* the expert and super-prompt email help from Steph on sizing
* the way the dolman-style sleeves look like regular short/cap sleeves due to the nice fit.
*Very work-appropriate... does not reveal cleavage - Hoorah! No camisole needed!
Comments/slight reservations:
*I am not so sure about the pockets... mine were a bit lumpy... but that step did not make sense to me... I think it was my error.
*Skirt was definitely short... and I am only 5'4"... may lengthen next time.
Fabric Used: poly knit print with very little stretch... black background with red and pink and a bit of white... a sort of valentine color theme.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: NONE!!! WOW!!!
Would you sew it again? YES, indeed. I will sew it again. I plan more dresses, as well as some tops using this bodice piece with my TNT tee shirt bottom. I would also like to try some long sleeves. Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I recommend as a great beginner knit pattern, especially for large-busted women or those with different top and bottom size needs. I will also try sewing the side seams before binding the sleeves... it is more time consuming, but I prefer the smoother finish under the arms.
Conclusion: I am SO impressed! Many pattern-makers claim to customize bust cup sizes but fail to accommodate anyone larger than a D cup. I wear a 36G and this pattern worked for me without an FBA. Steph will advise sizing by email and most large busted women can likely avoid FBA with her advice on front bodice size selection. Full-busted gals, don't give up! There IS a dress pattern that is both feminine and does not reveal cleavage!
