Pattern Description:
A sleeveless, sheath dress with lovely detailing and topstitching inspired by the Andre Courréges' designed wardrobe for Romy Schnieder from the movie “La Piscine” Pattern Sizing:
This is a free pattern for pattern testing. It comes in one size to fit a 5'4 woman with 36" bust. I am 5'9 with a 36" bust and it was perfect for me. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were really helpful and there are some great pictures in the online tutorial too. However, I would not attempt this without some prior sewing experience and knowledge. I really enjoyed making this and seeing how the pieces fitted together. The style of topstitching was new to me and I loved the process and finished look of it. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Even though this is a test pattern, it goes together beautifully to produce a gorgeous dress with unique and stylish features. It is very well thought out. The style is so comfortable and flattering to wear. Fabric Used:
A medium to heavy weight printed cotton fabric from Ikea. I wanted a fabric that would allow the beautiful topstitching detail of this dress to be on show. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I omitted the lining on the dress due to our hot climate here in Perth, Western Australia. I finished the neck and armholes with lycra binding sewn to the inside. I did cut the dress with extra length but didn't end up needing it. I took the lower back section of the dress in by about 3cm along the centre back seam. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I think I will sew this again. It's a really cute and comfortable dress that is unlike anything I've ever made or owned. I would like to try it in a different fabric but I can't decide which one yet! Conclusion:
I felt like a 60s film star wearing this dress. The style is gorgeous and Savage Coco's description of this dress helped me style my outfit accordingly and think of myself as a movie heroine! It is a very flattering style to wear as it skims the body and hides a multitude of sins. I love it

Your fabric choice does a nice job of highlighting the topstitching. What is everyone waiting for? This is a free pattern! I might need another. 2/19/13 12:50 PM
