Pattern Description:
Vintage Kimono Sleeve dress!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Actually I was surprised by how good the pattern instructions were. Quite nicely written!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the romantic shape. I was quite perplexed by how to alter the bust without an armscye seam though! I just kinda made up my own SBA and it seemed to work....I have to post about it on my blog. I made 3 toiles so I put a lot of work into the fit.
Fabric Used:
A bedsheet I found at the op shop. The print was too cute to pass up, and the fabric was lovely to sew with..
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Just a bunch of fitting, oh and chopping a massive whack off the hem to get it to knee-length!
Maybe if I make it again, I would not use facings for the sleeves, but use bias tape- they are quite structured with the facing and the bias tape might soften them up (they stick out under my cardy, lol!)
If you wanted to emphasise the vintage factor, it would be great to add a petticoat to make the skirt full! (Or maybe add horsehair braid in the hem??)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I could see myself sewing it again, and would recommend it. It's a very vintage style, but I think you could modernise it slightly with a different choice of fabric.
Conclusion:
I am really happy with how it turned out! Especially my hand stitching, which took a lot of time but was worth it
You can see more of the photos and construction on my blog here.

What a darling dress. I was a bit confused when looking at the Simplicity picture your review links to and this dress. I was wondering how on earth you had morphed it, but I was intrigued and went to your blog when all became clear. You have done a wonderful job and look pretty as a picture in your beautiful fitting dress.
