Pattern Description:
Stylish companions: Jacket A collarless, with binding edges, made of textured fabrics. Longer outdoor variant B trimmed with fur. Long woolen coat with modestly set military accents.
I made Views B / C
Pattern Sizing:
10-22, I cut a 12 grading to 16 at the hip.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Fairly close.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but they jumped between views so as with all Burda patterns they require close attention. I also used my Singer Tailoring book for additional construction details.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I wanted a coat with fur collar and cuffs which this had. I liked the long lean style as well. I have had several coats with these lines and always like them.
Fabric Used:
Wool coating in camel, with a touch of cashmere. Faux fur in chinchilla, very soft and pettable! Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
My standard Burda alterations; 1/2" front shoulder narrowing, 1/2" removed from entire back width on each side, 1" swayback removed above waist and added back to the hem. 5" removed from coat length, as I am not a tall Valkyrie. I had to remove 1" from the collar height so as not to look like I was hiding from the world.
I made bound buttonholes instead of using press fasteners. The line drawing shows 4 buttons but the pattern tissue has 5 and the fifth is below the waistline and is need to stop the coat blowing open!
I also added extra tailoring inside. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Well I don't think I'll need another coat like this for a while. I would recommend it to others, but not the long version if you are petite.
Conclusion:
A lovely warm coat, the collar and cuffs are so snuggly!
See My Blog for lots of photos and a bonus hat from the leftover fur.

Lovely! Such a stunning and classic coat. Instantly made me think of the coat Jackie Kennedy wore to the inaguaration, but I like the simple lines of yours more! http://www.jfklibrary.org/Asset-Viewer/Archives/JFKMUS-MO-1963-1295.aspx
