Pattern Description: "MISSES' TOP AND SKIRT: Loose-fitting, bias, pullover top has draped front neckline with weight, no side seams and stitched hem. Very close-fitting, below waist pull-on skirt has elastic waist with contrast facing, pleats, front extending to side back, no side seams and right side back slit. Self bias binding finishes hem." This is a Donna Karan designer pattern.
Pattern Sizing: 4-20 - I made a 10.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yep.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. With only one seam, there really isn't much to this pattern.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Love the style - drapey, dramatic, daringly low cut... This is the kind of top I love to wear.
I love and hate that Donna Karan patterns have so few pieces. This pattern was one piece and some binding for the armscyes. It makes it really easy and fun to sew (very cool to see how it is constructed) but challenging to alter. However, this pattern went well, fit-wise for me.
Fabric Used: Some mystery knit that I bought at MetroTextiles last spring. It's sort of a black jersey with metallic silver stripes.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: First, I did not cut the pattern on the bias since I was working with a remnant and would not have had enough. I took it in a scootch at the back of the neck. Next time I would take it in a bit more there and grade out a bit at the hips.
I think I may be the only reviewer so far who did not sew the neckline higher than instructed. I'm tall, so it possibly hits a little higher on me, and also I'm a fan of decollete.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely yes to both. I'm thinking that a really luxe version in silk is in my future. Honestly, I think this is a terrifically flattering pattern that any number of women would look great in.
Conclusion: I plan to wear this top a lot! Low cut can look trashy if you aren't careful, but I think this top is the right blend of sexy and sophisticated.

Lovely top - looks great on you! When in the "gallery" and you click on the photo - it enlarges to show a kimono - not this lovely top. You may need to see if you can fix that as this top is really worth showing off.

I too have made the "skirt of despair", and yes, this top is redemption. Looks better on you than on the model!

@ BeaJay - Thanks! I've fixed it. (Guess I'm not as good at muli-tasking as I thought!) @ Jrhee - It was the skirt of despair, wasn't it?!?!? LOL Thanks everyone!
