Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Similar
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I liked this simple pattern. It only had french darts in the front so did not disrupt much of the embroidery.
Fabric Used:The fabric is pina fabric made from pineapple fibers and my mom got it from the Philippines. It is sheer so there is a slip underneath which was actually my mother's slip for another dress which has since fallen apart. (I cut it apart and traced it to make a pattern for a future dress.) I used a silk dress under dress with sleeves photo.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added sleeves to it and used this tutorial as a guide. I did end up decreasing the height of the sleeve cap by 1 1/2 inches. I took the armscye in a quarter of an inch tapering to nothing by the underarm seam. Because I'm barely over 5 ft tall, I simply took several inches off the bottom to place it about knee length. I used french seams through out except for the center back seam which I serged the edge before sewing the seam. Also used for the first time the Bernina #35 foot which I swiped from my mom's 1530 since she isn't using it right now. It was great. Highly recommend it. I didn't have to baste the zipper first. Went in perfectly and everything matched up at the top. I used in this picture with sleeves a thrifted silk dress that I added straps, shortened skirt, and added contrasting silk band. I initially put a ruffle made from the leftover fabric but it caught on the overlay, so cut it off. Then the dress was too short and I had to do something. Luckily had silk sash in stash.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?yes and yes
Conclusion: I really like the simpleness of this vintage pattern. Stylish but easy to do. I will post the final pictures after I set the sleeves in and get a photo shoot done with my husband.

I'm ordering a half size smaller but might be too small. 3 1/2" heels (really 4" but has half inch platform) highest I've tried. 2/10/13 10:23 AM
