Pattern Description:
Project Runway maxi dress. I did View B with the keyhole bodice and hi-low skirt.
Pattern Sizing:
P5 (12-14-16-18-20). I cut a size 20, but had to take it in anyway.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, very much so.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I had some issues with Step 7, and around Step 29, but only had to do minor amounts of seam ripping ;)
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really liked the way the bodice came together with minimal visible seams. It feels very neat and finished looking.
I disliked the side zipper. I've read some of the other reviews saying you can skip the zipper on View A, but it feels necessary for View B since the interfacing stiffens the knit fabric around the waist.
Fabric Used:
A striped knit, with brown, white and gold colors.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I took the dress in at the sides prior to installing the side zipper. I used hook and eyes on the back closure instead of buttons, and added 5 beads to the decorative collar rather than three.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I really love this dress. It is pretty flattering on and I own nothing like it. I'm also a sucker for hi-low skirts. I definitely recommend it, and feel like I'm pretty likely to sew this again myself, maybe View A.
Conclusion:
I love everything about this dress! If you are interested in a longer review of the sewing process for this pattern, I have several posts on my blog about it (link below!); please check it out!
