Pattern Description:
The dress has short set-in sleeves and a lowered neckline. The skirt is slightly flared and has soft pleats at the front waistline.
Pattern Sizing:
Vintage half-sizes, one size per envelope.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were easy to follow, though, like many vintage patterns, they did assume that the maker had a basic sewing knowledge.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Cute details including the "v" slit at the front neckline and the pleats at skirt front. The skirt isn't as full as the pattern illustration would suggest, but it has plenty of wearing and walking ease without a lot of fabric. It seems like just about the right amount of skirt for a woman who might want to ride a bike while wearing a dress.
Fabric Used:
Linen or linen-blend (I don't recall now which it was) with all-over floral embroidery.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Added a bit at the waist to accommodate for not wearing a vintage girdle/waist cincher. Added width to bicep area of sleeve. Took 2 inches off the bottom of the skirt before hemming.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm trying to work my way through several vintage patterns in the stash, so I won't be making this up again immediately, but it is staying in the stash to be used again at some later date. I'd definitely recommend this to someone wanting a vintage-looking, but work-appropriate dress.
Conclusion:
Great pattern. I'm glad I picked it up.
