Pattern Description:
This is a t-shirt with a twist - literally! It is cut from a single piece of fabric and forms a drape and twist when it is sewn together. Pattern Sizing:
The sizes are very small. I made the L/XL, which fits an AU or UK 10. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
There is not much that can go wrong when sewing only one piece of fabric. The instructions are brief, but clear. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love that this top is simple and fast to make, but looks so unique. I used striped fabric and the stripes go in different directions on different parts of the top due to the way the pattern is cut - very cool. I also like that the top is drapey at the top and closer fitting around the hips. It is comfortable and flattering.
I made this top the evening before we went on holiday and it was really quick to make. The pattern tracing took the most amount of time because it has to be traced in three sections then taped together. This is not difficult, but a bit cumbersome and fiddly. You will need a large table or floor! Fabric Used:
A cotton knit main top and lycra strips for the neck and sleeve binding. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Not much of an alteration, but I used a black lycra strip to bind the neckline and sleeves. I did this as you would for enclosing an edge with bias binding, folded in the middle with the edges of the binding turned under and hidden inside. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will probably sew this again but in very different fabric so it wasn't obviously the same top! I definitely recommend this to others. Conclusion:
I have been Drape Drape-ing quite prolifically lately and I just love the designs in these books. This is no exception and is one of the simpler patterns, which would be a good one to attempt as a beginner with a little knit fabric experience. It helps a lot that these patterns fit me with no resizing, but this one has a bit of room to manoevre. It's a very stylish and flattering top.
