I wanted to make my parents aprons for Christmas and this pattern was in my stash (I believe its OOP now, even though it dates from 2011.

Apron #1 - for my Dad who is Mr. BBQ in the summer. I wanted a heavy-duty light-coloured apron which would protect his clothes but not be too hot in the sun. I made a modified view D size L.

Apron #2 - for my Mum I wanted a nice looking apron and since I didn't have much time to make it before Xmas, I opted for the faster "skirt-only" style apron. My mum has a collection of aprons which have more sentimental than practical value, they date back to when I was a child and they are therefore full of rips and holes; the last time I repaired them I decided that I had to make some replacements. I chose blue to match her "formal" dishware. I made a modified view B size L.
Apron #2

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for my changes.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It's an apron pattern that I didn't have to draw up....(I've done that for some kids aprons). And I was easily able to make some changes.

Fabric Used:
#1 - twill weave denim, a solid blue twill weave and a stripey regular weave, the latter two med weight, the denim was slightly heavier. I used the WS of the denim for the lightest colour.
#2 - medium blue twill & a blue with white dots weave, both cotton, both medium weight
All fabrics were from Giroux's.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

#1 - I moved the vertical stripe off-center (it is an applied strip). I added a contrast band (1.5" wide) to the top horizontal striped band. I added a 5" wide horizontal striped band at the hem with an additional contrast band (1.5" wide). (I shortened the apron body by the finished widths of the two bands). I used 3 straight-edge pockets (the two large from view C, the small from view B) in the stripe fabric, and banded them with the contrast fabric. I used the stripe fabric horizontally & vertically for fun. The horizontal bands are all sewn with 5/8" SA's (the SA was then serged and stitched down with top stitching). The incredibly long tie (it took a while to turn it RS out after sewing it up) fits into a casing along the side seams.

#2 - I made the ties with the contrast dots fabric. Instead of quilting the bottom band, I used the contrast dots fabric in a single layer, with a hem (if using a lightweight fabric, I would do this as a double layer of fabric to make it neater on the wrong side-for this one, I just serged it and then stitched down the SA). I used the pockets from this view, but added a band with the contrast dot fabric. The apron looked like it was still missing something, so I fortunately had the idea to add ribbon trim to the pockets & hem band, and this really made the apron, especially with the little ribbon bows on the pockets. I used white thread for top stitching.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & yes. It's a good basic pattern which is easy to customize, and the fit is good.

Conclusion: My parents liked their aprons! Actually someone else thought it was a skirt for her on Christmas morning....
